Kyuanji Temple
Enjoy the "Temple of Flowers" throughout the seasons!
The romon (two-storied gate) is classified as important national cultural property. It's foundations were first laid during the Nara period, with an emphasis on the appreciation of elegance. Kyuanji is well-known as the 12th temple in the Kansai flower temple route. Throughout the seasons flowers bloom at Kyuanji; tree peony and azalea in spring, hydrangea and rhododendron in summer, beautiful autumn leaves in Autumn, and wintersweet and sansanqua camellia in Winter. This has coined its other name, "flower temple".
