Mount Satsuki and the Satsukiyama Zoo
Mt Satsuki(315.3m in height)situated at the back of Ikeda, makes this city such a lovely part of Osaka to visit. There are many walking courses. From many viewing points you can see Osaka Prefecture and the Seto Inland Sea, and on very clear days you can see Awajishima. Satsuki as the name suggests is a place you can see many flowers throughout the year. At the base of the Mountain in the park you can see many azaelea and sakura - cherry blossom- trees. It is a popular spot for people to have "Hanami" in May.
In the nearby small zoo you can see animals such as monkeys, rabbits and deer etc. A big attraction for many is the collection of Australian animals, including the wombats, wallabies and sheep, from Ikeda's sister city Launceton, Tasmania.
